Winter Movie

Recently I decided to watch the movie Cold Mountain. I remember my mom saw it in theater and loved it. It had a certain appeal for me. There isn’t much to not like: Costume dramas, Nicole Kidman and Jude Law, even at a younger age I had a certain curiosity and desire to see Cold Mountain. Well I viewed it a few days ago for the first time and just fell in love with it. The cast itself is just unbelievable. I sort of have an obsession with actors and I love to research movies so Cold Mountain really fed into my love for actors and actresses. If you haven’t seen the film and don’t believe me about how amazing the cast is, just go on the IMDB for this movie. The basic plot line of this film surrounds the relationship of two star crossed lovers who become enthralled with one another right on the verge of The Civil war.  The war tears them from one another, and causes greif and heartache for both of Ada and Innam. The movie parallels the trials and tribulations of each character due to the harsh and brutal ways of war. The movies shows the views of a woman  trying to survive at home while the man does the same as he tries to return to his home. While the film is an epic love story and have some purely beautiful scenes, there is also some heavy and bleak moments that really stay with you. I think that condtraction of both beauty and love and death and hardship is what really makes me love this film. Its tragic and heartwarming and really leaves a lasting impression.  I loved the soundtrack and the scenery was so beautiful. Nicole Kidman and Jude Law are two just beautiful people in general and to see them interact was so wonderful.  Renée Zellweger’s character is just plain awesome. She comes to help Nicole Kidman work on her farm and becomes a true asset to her faith and surviving the war. The pair make a truly wonderful femm power pair as they work hard to not let the war and men beat them down. There are so many actor cameos that its almost hard to count. Some great actors such as: Donal Southerland, Philip Seymour Hoffman,, Brendan Gleeson,  Natalie Portman ,Kathy Baker,Charlie Hunnam and Jack White to name a few! If you enjoy epic costume dramas and romance or just a great film for winter I would suggest this!
